The charter of Bishop Kalán to Dominic, Bishop of Zagreb, in which Okić and its estate are mentioned for the first time, in the period between 1 September and 31 December 1193.
Calanus dei gratia Quinqueecclesiensis episcopus palleatus et totius Dalmatie atque Chroatie gubemator omnibus Christi fidelibus, ad quoscumque hec presens pagina peruenerit, salutem in domino. English translation
Kalán, by the grace of God Bishop of Pécs, bearer of the episcopal pallium and governor of all Dalmatia and Croatia. To all Christians into whose hands this charter shall come, greeting in the Lord.
Although all who profess the Christian faith are bound to carry out with zeal whatever the blessed Saviour commands, yet those men who hold the highest authority and whom divine grace has raised in this world above all others ought to bow their necks not only to the Lord's commandments, but also, through more attentive service, to embrace His counsels with greater fervour — so that obedience arising from the keeping of the commandments may bring them eternal salvation, and the zealous fulfilment of His saving counsel may grant them increased glory and reward.
Therefore I — being well acquainted with the Old and New Testament, in which the clear trumpet loudly proclaims that every tithe, without any diminution whatsoever, is to be rendered to the Lord, and that not even Cain could escape with deaf ears the death of the first martyr, whom his enemy brother treacherously slew on account of a holy offering of tithe — hereby ordain that from all the provisions of sustenance which the people call "cazun" (victuals), and from all their appurtenances, namely cattle and sheep, as well as lambs, poultry and loaves, and other goods if such there be, which are gathered into the ducal storehouses from various places, that is from Krapina, Okić and Podgorje, a tithe shall be rendered to the venerable Dominic, Bishop of Zagreb, and to his successors, without any hesitation or diminution, in the same manner as he collects the tithe on all the revenues of the duchy throughout his entire diocese.
And in order that this may endure in perpetuity, it was fitting that this charter of new donation, as a reinforcement of the old ordinance, be furnished with the authority of my seal; therefore no one is permitted to violate this just ordinance or to oppose it by any rash attempt. Should anyone dare to do so, he shall not — like a sacrilegious person — escape eternal condemnation and shall be struck by the sentence of ecclesiastical judgement.
Concluded in the year of the Lord's Incarnation 1193, in the twelfth indiction, during the reign of the pious King Béla the Third.
